Cross My Heart...

Tuesday Trigger- Cross My Heart

I re-discovered a roll of self-adhesive mesh which was popular in scrapbooking a few years back, and thought it would make a great template for re-creating cross stitching on my card. The advantage of the mesh is that it is repositionable, removable, and you don't have to draw and erase your lines. This card was inspired by this weeks Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger - Cross My Heart, the theme, the textures and of course the cross-stitching.

This may be my last Valentine's Day Card, for this year any way - Cross My Heart!!

UPDATED: I discovered these boxes are a perfect match for Jaffas...

I thought I'd have a go at making a candy box for this months Trendy Twine Sweets for My Sweetie and Addicted to CAS Candy Challenges, inspired by Paper Smooches Sparks and Catered Crop Polka Dots Challenges, and Scrapbook Boutiques Love Photo Challenge. First I adhered my red polka dot and pink polka dot pieces together and negative die cut a heart from this panel. Next I cut two pieces of red cardstock two inches wider and two inches taller than my heart panel, and scored along each edge one inch from the outside edges.

On the lid of the candy box, I used my heart panel to trace then cut out the heart shape (as my cardstock piece was too big to use the die cut again). I stamped sentiment from Paper Smooches Falling for You on the heart panel, before sandwiching and double-sided taping some clear plastic between the heart panel and the cardstock lid. I used a hole punch to create the handle holes, in the top and bottom pieces of my box, and threaded 6 strands of Trendy Twine Valentine Cherry Cupcake through the handle holes and plaited the handle before securing to the inside of the box. I cut a 1 inch strip of the red cardstock and adhered to the inside top edge of the box, so the twine ends are concealed. Using Paper Smooches Alphadots and Sentiment Sampler I stamped the inside sentiment - which appears at the bottom of the candy box when the recipient finishes the candy.

I finished constructing the box securing the corners with double-sided tape and adding the gorgeous polka dotted Paper Smooches Falling for You bat.

Now all I need to do is go find some polka-dotted candy before Thursday -

or maybe some Lindt chocolate balls - then again they probably wouldn't last til Thursday LOL!

There She Goes all Moxie Fab...

The first thing I thought of when I saw this weeks Tuesday Trigger Cross My Heart Challenge was this home-made looking grid paper from MME, perfect for sitting on this teal blue base. I thought I'd create a heart card inspired by this card, but as I don't have any heart embossing folders, I thought I'd substitute these fab polka dots instead. I punched out a folk heart and used it as a template to hand cut my heart aperture. The sentiment is a combination of Paper Smooches Alphadot, and There She Goes Day & Night, perfect for playing along with this weeks TSG Inspiration Challenge.

I just realised when reading this that a lot of "thought" goes into my creating! LOL!

A-Muse-in' Polka Dots - Take 2...

Inspired by this week gorgeous Muse card by Laurie, together with this weeks Paper Smooches Sparks and Catered Crops Polka Dots Challenges. I love the citrus colours in Laurie's Muse card, the cardstock base, the offset white greeting panel, coloured happy sentiment, the diecut flower elements and the twin panels in the background, which I translated into the two opening panels for a gatefold card, and my card is gatefold, the green tone-on-tone strip goes all the way around the card. I die cut two of the greeting panels, one in white cardstock and the other in patterned paper. I slightly off-set these two panels to create more depth and to balance the die cut flowers. The sentiment is Paper Smooches, stamped in Daffodil Delight.

P.S. In case you're wondering , the background paper in version 1 had too much contrast with white on yellow polka dots, then I found the PERFECT yellow on yellow polka dot paper in my stash, so I decided to have another attempt - my daughter's friend enjoyed receiving the first one :) If the acid test of a CAS card is that it can quickly be recreated - this one passed with flying colours!

There She Goes Inspired by Freshly Made...

I had so much FUN making this card. Inspired by this weeks fab Freshly Made Sketch and the There She Goes Inspiration Challenge - I don't know why but old bikes just remind me of home! I love the combination of gingham, wood and hand stitched heart (from Laurel's Inspired By Challenge), I think they compliment these cute house and sun stamps and sentiment from There She Goes perfectly.

Festive Friday with Annabelle's Stamps...

The picture I had in my head when I started this card, and the picture you see here are poles apart - South and North Poles apart actually LOL!

Thought I'd get a head start making my Christmas cards, inspired by this weeks sketch at Annabelle Stamps, and this fortnights inaugural Festive Friday Colour Challenge. These cute Christmas stamps are from Annabelle Stamps, Santa's Star and sentiment stamped in Red Tinsel and heat embossed is from Whoo Loves Christmas. Had fun with polka dot papers and star embossing, together with this fab silver tinsel paper and cute little cotton ball from Pebbles.

Dashing Hearts...

Excited to present my first 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge DT card, with this card taking just under 10 minutes - 9 minutes 53 seconds to be exact! This weeks 10 Minute Craft Dash winner will receive a FAB gift certificate from Denami Design.

I make sure I am really organised before I start my timer, with all my papers and supplies close at hand, a clear workspace, and a sketch of what my card will look like (or at least what I think it will look like!) I die cut my clouds from the heart paper first, then embossed my white cardstock, and juggled my paper over the embossed cardstock to work out the best positioning of the swirls before cutting the cardstock to size. I stamped my TAWS birds and fussy cut them, I had also stamped and started to fussy cut a balloon before I realised I would run out of time to incorporate the balloon and the birds, so I just focused on the birds - and made a second version featuring the balloon later! I stamped my sentiment and hand cut the fishtail before assembling my card, including pop-dotting the die-cut layer - keeping in mind to use foam tape and peel off the backing before I cut my tape to save time.
