CASE me a Christmas Card with Michelle Lupton

So this is my first crafty session in about a year! I was hoping Michelle Lupton's Case me a Christmas Card challenge would inspire me, and it certainly did! Just managed to get my card reveal day messed up, so I'm here a day late but as they say, better late than never!

I used alcohol inks for the background, a combination of Pinata Rich Gold, Mantilla Black, Sapphire Blue and Baja Blue with Tim Holtz Mixative Pearl, Cloudy Blue and Sail Boat Blue. Stitched snowflake diecuts from Lil Inkers, Christmas sentiment diecut from Paper Smooches, Wishes stamp from WPlus9.

Hope you love it as much as I do!

Here's Michelle's gorgeous card that inspired my CASE...

Ardyth came up with a genius acronym to help you make a Case of a card without making a direct copy of it - LIMES. I am going to be using this acronym for all my Cases from now on:

List: Blue, alcohol inks, die cut, flowers, birthday, two colour stamping, bold greeting, monotone, gold, landscape

Include: Blue, alcohol inks, die cut, bold greeting, monotone, gold

Modify: flowers

Exclude: birthday

Spin: Christmas, portrait, curved edge, diecut sentiment

You can check out Michelle's gorgeous CASE of my card here

A CASE Study Goodbye (for now)...

Sad to hear the news that the gorgeous Chupa is suspending the CASE Study Challenge - after four fabulous years, but couldn't miss the opportunity to CASE Debby Hughes one last time...

Here is my very humble attempt at CASEing Debby's gorgeous card - she makes it look so easy!!!
Created using Studio Calico paper, Lil Inkers diecut, holly berries and leaves from Making Memories, and The Twinery twine.

Playing along with CAS(E) this Sketch, and another fabulous inspiration card from Debby Hughes at CASE Study, together with Catered Crop Good Medicine Recipe Swap.

Created with a kraft base, two super cute die cut feathers from when we went away with Joy (sorry, I can't remember who makes them!), Lil Inkers Stitched Polaroid, Clearly Besotted Fancy Feathers sentiment embossed in Zing White, and Studio Calico Woodgrain Enamel Dots.

A CAS(E) Study Mixed Media Card...

Reminding you you still have until 25 September to play along with Mixed Media Card Challenge Autumn Colours, with a card inspired by the textures and natural burlap and twine elements from Debby's CASE Study card, layout from this versatile CAS(E) this Sketch, colours and shimmer from Moxie Fab World Fabulous Friday Getting Fancy and theme from Inspiration Emporium Fall is in the Air and Dies R Us Fall Festival . I love this leaf patterned paper background, and created the Lawn Fawn die cut leaves using Luminarte paints on watercolour paper, added the burlap fishtail flag and twine, and Winnie and Walter The Big, The Bold Blessings sentiment stamped in Momento Luxe Lilac Posies.

CASE Study 4th Anniversary, Inspired by Clare...

Joining in the 4th Anniversary fun at CASE Study with a card inspired by this gorgeous creation by Clare Buswell, and looking at Clare's card I probably should have tried to photograph mine with a coloured background too LOL! The lace strip stamp is by Kaisercraft and the lace doily and sentiment by MME, all stamped in Momento Luxe Bridal White, heat embossed with American Crafts Zing White. The Simon Says Stamp leaves were die cut in vellum and burlap - and I discovered that burlap die cuts don't always stay in one piece! So I used the individual burlap leaves as shadow highlights instead, and added some Kaisercraft pearls to finish.

Playing along with Little Red Wagon Embossing Challenge,
and I had this Clean & Simple Sketch lurking in the back of my mind
(flipped the sentiment to the other side and the ribbon became my leaves!)

Keep It Simple with Stickers...

Time to play along with Keep It Simple Only Stickers Challenge! I have to admit, I did find this challenging, until I realised I have a truckload of gorgeous alphabet stickers, just waiting to be upcycled LOL! These American Crafts Topography letters were a perfect match to create this "I'm lost without you" sentiment.

Remember to stop by the blogs of the Keep It Simple DT
for some more terrific Only Stickers inspiration...
Love to see how you are inspired this fortnight!

Inspired by the subway art with a twist by Shari Carroll, over at CASE Study.

Do the things you never thought you could do...

Inspired by the The Color Room and CASE Study colours and use of thread, Wida's CASE Study offset angles, teal blue sentiment and large stamped image, and the Take a Word "Book" Collage Challenge. I so wanted to add some machine stitching to this collage, but my machine didn't want to play, so I went with a flight line of thread instead.

In case you are interested, the process went something like this (with drying in between each step):

  • Used gel medium to stick down the old fairytale book pages;
  • overlaid with whitewash;
  • gel mediumed the Cosmo Cricket Junk Drawer strips;
  • laid the Tim Holtz mask letters in place and spread a layer of modelling paste over the top;
  • stamped this gorgeous Darkroom Door butterfly on tissue paper and gel mediumed in position;
  • once dry, repositioned the masked letters before overspraying with Prima spritzes in soft gold, soft teal and soft red;
  • coloured the butterfly with the soft teal spritz then decided it needed a deeper colour;
  • infilled the butterfly and "Fly" letters with gelatos; and
  • added the thread butterfly trail.

A CASE Study in Washi...

So wanted to play along with CASE Study last week with the fabulous Wida as Muse - but ran out of time - so an extra effort to make the deadline this week, with inspiration from this gorgeous card...
I was inspired by the colours, the window (mine became a circle), use of washi tape and die cuts. The background panel was created using strips of floral washi tape (just right for playing along with Simon Says Stamp Spring Flowers), die cut with Lil Inkers Stitched Rectangle and Stitched Circle (just right for playing along with Virginia's View Stitching Challenge too). The Simon Says Stamp daisies are also My Minds Eye washi tape on cardstock and die cut.  I wanted to go for the trifecta and create the sentiment from washi tape, but none of my washi was as perfect as this tiny polka dot paper from Lawn Fawn. The My Favorite Things sentiment was also cut from Lil Inkers Stitched Circle and inset.

As washi is such a central feature, I'm playing along with
Paper Crafter's Gallery Idol just for the fun of it too!

Love you to the moon...

As much as I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the stunning colours of this weeks card by Case Study Muse, Joni Nina Andaya, I thought I'd create a stellar sky with blues and yellows using Distress Inks in Faded Denim, Salty Ocean, Broken China and Squeezed Lemon, flicked with water. I double stamped this gorgeous Winnie & Walter sentiment in Versamark Watermark and Fine Gold embossing powder, once on the background panel, and once on the die cut circle to create the moon. The sentiment was created by using "the" from "mother's", and these gorgeous star sequins arrived as part of a much appreciated thank you for my order :)

P.S. If you are quick you can still enter into a huge give away of the Winnie & Walter second release!

A Happy Birthday Accident...

Whilst I was playing with my Glimmermists, I accidentally oversprayed onto a couple of pieces of white cardstock on my desk, so I made the most of this happy accident by adding some more layers of ink to create this Neat & Tangled Happy Birthday card.  Using Neat & Tangled Ink Splash and Everyday Circles sentiments stamped in Momento Luxe Morocco, Bahama Blue and Nautical Blue. Playing along with Little Tangles One Layer Card Challenge and Seize the Birthday, and inspired by the inky goodness of Donna's CASE Study card.
