More or Less Another Hot Pink Play Date...

After doing an almost black card for this weeks Play Date Cafe challenge I thought I'd do an almost white one too - and how could I not incorporate some twine as this weeks winner receives a gorgeous package of twine from The Twinery!  As this layout also features die-cuts I've linked it to this weeks Less is More Diecut & Punches Challenge and ribbons for this weeks CAS-ual Friday Tie One On Ribbon Challenge - hopefully it's CAS enough!

Die-cutting some My Favourite Things flat-bottomed clouds I discovered the only problem with flat-bottomed clouds is that they are flat bottomed lol!  When using them for negative die-cuts, you need to take extra care keeping them straight when cutting them out.

I dry embossed one of the smaller clouds to pop-dot in front and also the cardstock that sits underneath the negative die-cuts using Cuttlebug D'vine Swirl embossing folder.  Kite shape is cut from a scrap in my stash, and the We R Memory Keepers twine for the kite tail is sandwiched between it and some black cardstock, so the kite could be pop-dotted too.  Tied on the bows onto the twine using double-sided ribbon - hides a multitude of sins if your bow-tying technique is not up to scratch ;)  This gorgeous sentiment is from My Favourite Things Clearly Sentimental About Success.

Many thanks for stopping by, wishing you success in your endeavours today too :)

PS. This made my day!!!

There She Goes with Ribbons...

Whilst I'm waiting for my There She Goes stamps (even more tempting with their 15% off sale), I thought I'd join in this weeks Colour Challenge of Olive, Rose and Razzleberry with papers from MME Lost and Found Two in Blush.  I love this olive crushed velvet ribbon I've been saving for a rainy day - well a special occasion anyway.  I slightly adapted this weeks gorgeous Ribbon Carousel Sketch and added a button-centred flower.  I feel it could have benefitted from some stitching, to keep with the theme - but I just don't trust my machine - or perhaps my sewing ability!

I hope your day is a special occasion!

There She Goes on a CASual Play Date...

Loving the brights this week at The Play Date Cafe - decided that I am definitely a brights girl when it comes to crafting.  I combined this weeks stunning colour palette with this weeks CAS-ual Friday paper piecing challenge and There She Goes negative die cut challenge.  The lighter blue cloud and grass are created from negative die cuts in the white cardstock.  The gorgeoous Paper Smoochers sun and WeR Memory Keepers bee are stamped onto October Afternoon paper and cut out, and together with the darker blue clouds are all pop-dotted for added dimension.  The sentiment is Paper Smooches too.

Hope the sun is shining in your corner of the world too!

PS. This put a smile on my face too :)

Take the Leap with Play Date Cafe...

Even though I struggle with purple, I loved this weeks colour inspiration board at The Play Date Cafe and couldn't resist playing along. The pastel colours look so delicate so I thought I'd try a new technique using a feather today.  As the purple content of my stash is minimal, I used Tattered Angels Glimmermist in Denim over Candy Pink to create my base then dragged the tip of the feather through the wet inks to combine and define the ink pattern (inspired by the gorgeous work of Louise Nelson).  The feather theme perfectly suited this sentiment stamp from My Favourite Things Clearly Sentimental About Success watermark inked then heat embossed with Ranger Ink Sea Foam embossing powder.  Background paper is by Fancy Pants.

Really difficult to get a good photo of the amazing colours and shades that glimmermist produces - especially on a not-so-sunny day!

Hope you have the confidence to build your wings today :)

A CASE of Rainbows...

This card was going a WHOLE different direction when I started it - but I kinda like where it ended up anyway!  LOVE this card from the CASE Study this week so I borrowed the stripes and the colour combo to create my card, using this gorgeous stamp from Inkadinkadoo.  Thanks for stopping by :)

"Count Your Rainbows...

... not your thunderstorms", the perfect sentiment for this card and wise words from a 12 year old!

I could not go past using a rainbow for this weeks gorgeous sketch from Skipping Stones Design. Rainbow is made from strips of cardstock, adhered to white cardstock then pop dotted to create a bit of depth, I stamped each of the rainbow letters by inking them using Steadler thin markers.

I love that when I took the photo you can just make out the reflection of the rainbow colours on the floor - and choosing to ignore the bit of dust LOL!

Hope your year is full of rainbows :)

New Year, New Start...

Wishing all of you the very best of health and happiness for this New Year.  I am very glad to have 2011 behind me and am looking forward to the challenges of the year ahead!

I didn't get a chance to load this little guy up yesterday, so here is to a bright start to this New Year, with colour inspiration from Scrapbook Boutique, and sketch inspiration from Skipping Stones Design :)
