All Hearts Come Home for Christmas...

Are you like me and ought to have all your Christmas cards done by next Christmas LOL! There's so much inspiration out there I'm finding it hard to keep up!

I do love the idea of double-tagging on cards, as featured in the current Muse (Caroline) and Tag You're It! (Maureen) challenges. Christmas tag card created using Lawn Fawn papers, Paper Smooches Bookmark die cut, (shortened by die cutting just the fishtail end a second time to remove the excess length), My Favorite Things sentiment embossed in Silver, Prima wood veneer house, heart sequins from the ArtShed and twine from Annabelle's Stamps (now closed).

Winnie & Walter Sale!

You had better get your skates on if you want to catch these FABULOUS Black Friday and Cyber Monday specials at Winnie and Walter (available while supplies last 28 November - 1 December)!

My amazing package from Winnie and Walter has just arrived, and I couldn't wait to play with my fabulous new stamps, die cuts and screens! Just in time to play along with this months Winnie and Walter Playdate Challenge too. Inspired by the gorgeous pinecone wreath, the Winnie and Walter Winter Wonderland pine sprig was stamped in a wreath shape, first in Momento Luxe Pear Tart, then overstamped in Momento Luxe Pistachio, with the pine cones stamped last in Momento Luxe Rich Cocoa. Winnie and Walter The Big, The Bold and the Merry Cutaways sentiment was created by sandwiching two white cardstock and one top gold cardstock layer adhered together before die cutting, then adding the Liquid Pearls Gold Pearl berries as a finishing touch.

FUSION - Silver Stars

I had such fun with this fortnights FUSION inspiration! Re-discovered these gorgeous mini bells from the $2 shop in my stash, and threaded them onto some silver cord, knotting the little bells in place at random intervals. Die-cut the circle window opening and adhered the silver cord and bells in a "wreath" around the edge of the circle. In the meantime stamped and silver embossed these gorgeous Avery Elle Look Up freehand stars, perfect non-Christmas stamps for a Christmas card! Fussy cut the stars and adhered at random intervals around my silver "wreath". Die cut Avery Elle Seasons Greetings from a reinforced (added cardstock backing) sheet of American Crafts Silver Glitter paper, and adhered across the circle window opening. Lined the inside of the card with red Making Memories patterned paper.

The Design Team have some FABULOUS creations to inspire you!

Tag... You're Christmas!

Created an ormament shaker tag for the front of this card. Stamped the navy base layer of the Lawn Fawn tag with Verve Merry and Bright Snowflakes, in Superfine Silver embossing over white ink, then made a sandwich with a foam sheet Lawn Fawn tag (including the Clearly Besotted Signature Christmas ornament shape die cut out of it) added some holographic snowflakes and silver sequins, a clear acetate sheet, then the top layer of Lawn Fawn tag, also with the Clearly Besotted Signature Christmas ornament die cut out, stamped the Verve Merry and Bright sentiment in Superfine Silver embossing over white ink, added the Clearly Besotted Signature Christmas bow die cut in silver glitter paper, then added the whole tag to the navy card front.

Silver Stars Sparkle and Shine...

I think this is a Hero Arts Christmas Tree stamp, although I could be mistaken as it was borrowed from Cecilia when we were away creating. ETA - it is in fact from Artee - an old Australian company, and actually belongs to Jenny LOL!

I painstakingly added little silver sequin stars to some of the silver tinsel embossed star outlines, I LOVE the effect but it was more time-consuming than I had hoped LOL! Added this gorgeous Mama Elephant sentiment also in Silver Tinsel embossing, and backed with American Crafts white glitter paper.

Love this gorgeous Muse card by Terese - sad to hear she will be leaving Muse soon,
but it does mean YOU could have the opportunity to join the Muse team!

Stepping it Up... CAS to Mixed Media Card

Doing some last minute homework for the Online Holiday Card Class, inspired by Debby Hughes' stunning "easy to reproduce" gift tag card, I thought I'd show you how easy it is to step up from CAS to Mixed Media Cards - also to encourage you to play along with the current Mixed Media Card Challenge Christmas (with Bells optional), and still be a quick and easy card to reproduce!

My first CAS card was kept very simple, stamping Uniko Studio Pure Florala Ponsettia and Peace Love Joy sentiment on a Lawn Fawn tag in Hero Arts Gold ink and Rangers Pearl Gold embossing. The added splatter is created by flicking Heidi Swapp Gold Lame, rather than spraying, so there is still a lot of white space, essential for a CAS card.

Stepping it up, to create a Mixed Media Card, I sprayed the Heidi Swapp Gold Lame, added some MME gold striped patterned paper, Jingle and Joy gold twine bow and stamped this gorgeous STAMPlorations Jingle Bells image, with more solid lines, also using Hero Arts Gold ink and Rangers Pearl Gold embossing on the die cut Lawn Fawn tag. I diecut a second tag from a foam sheet, and used this behind the stamped tag for added dimension.

Twinkle All the Way...

After creating this card for last weeks Less Is More, I thought I'd have a go at making a one layer card version. I die cut two stencils from clear acetate sheeting, one with the negative space from Lil Inkers Stitched Square and the other with Making Memories Country Landscape, then taped them together to use as my mask for inking. Inked up with Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Dusty Concord, moving upwards to the deepest colour. Stamped with Mama Elephant Believe in Magic star cluster and Winter Wonderland large star in Momento Luxe Wedding ink embossed in white embossing powder then added Mama Elephant Merry Greetings sentiment in black, and Wink of Stella Clear Sparkle to the night sky. It felt like it needed a little extra boost, so I created a hand drawn outline in black fine-liner for added depth.

I Fall 4 U...

Now I dare you no to have that song running around your head for the next 20 minutes LOL!

Created with left over leaves from this card, I thought I'd create a Valentine's Day card to play along with Lawnscaping Pumpkin / Fall Challenge. Seize the Birthday have a Monochromatic Orange challenge at the moment this would be perfect for - but for the slightly excluding fact it is not a birthday card LOL!

The Lawn Fawn Autumn Leaves were die cut from watercolour paper with Twinkling H2O (Egyptian Gold, Autumn Butternut, Poppy) and LuminArte (Sunflower, Yellow Rose, Orange Peel, Persimmon), and the Lawn Fawn Into the Woods fox was stamped and paper pieced using scraps of Basic Grey papers. The sentiment was created using Lawn Fawn Into the Woods "fall" and Riley's ABCs.

Traditional Christmas Tree Shaker Card...

After so many non-traditionally coloured Christmas cards, I thought I'd bring back some real green pine needles and tinsel red glitter, together with lots of shiny baubles for the tree! As a shaker card of course for my Online Holiday Card Classes Interactive Card Homework Day 2!

Created using the gorgeous LaLa Land tree die cut, together with paper from Kaisercraft Basecoat Christmas, and Red Metallic and Birthday Party (minus the blue and purple) sequins from Neat & Tangled. The sentiment was created by sandwiching American Crafts Red Glitter paper and cardstock together, before die cutting with WPlus9 fabulous new Handlettered Holiday Merry die, and stamping the matching sentiment in Momento Luxe Olive Green.

When the card stands up, the sequins all fall to the base of the tree - if only we could decorate and un-decorate our tree that quickly!

Layers in the shaker sandwich:
  • Pine needle patterned paper on white card base
  • Foam sheet with triangle cutout to match the size of the diecut tree, with sequins in the centre of the triangle
  • Clear acetate
  • Diecut white cardstock with negative spaced tree, stamped with Christmas sentiment
  • Diecut Merry sentiment.
