Addicted to CAS and Geometric - August Guest Designer

So happy to be back Guest Designing with the fabulous
Addicted to CAS team this fortnight!
With the Addicted to CAS code word Geometric
I had so many ideas I ended up making two cards today!

Winnie and Walter Pennant triangle stamps are FABULOUS for this challenge!
The sun was created by stamping the pennant triangles in Dandelion and Morocco Momento Luxe inks, with a die cut circle as the centre, stamped with this very fitting Verve sentiment.

The second card uses this gorgeous geometric giraffe and crazy sentiment by Altenew, stamped in Versamark Watermark and heat embossed in Zing Pewter, and randomly filled with these three fabulous bright Color Throwdown colours. The triangle chunks were cut by snipping the card at a right-angles to the side, then cutting along the top half of the triangle, and flipping that cut piece over as a mirror reverse template, to make ensure the larger triangle ended up equilateral.

Remember to visit the Addicted to CAS Challenge blog for some more
gorgeous Geometric inspiration from the team!

Card 2, playing along with Color Throwdown,
Virginia's View Shaped Cards,
Seize the Sketch and Less is More Animal too!

Seize the Little Tangles...

It's been such a long time since I played with my Neat & Tangled stamps, I couldn't leave it a minute longer! Playing along with the current Little Tangles Stencil Challenge and Seize the Sketch, I oversprayed this Heidi Swapp Mini Stencil Hello Frame with Prima Color Bloom Peony Spray Mist, then stamped this cute Neat & Tangled Just Hello phone and masked the Little Tangles squiggly lines in Hero Arts Charcoal, to create the phone cord, and added a couple of sequins.

This made me smile...

Seize the Runway...

E.T.A. Joining in the fun with Moxie Fab Hip on Handwriting Challenge

Even though I LOVE the DTs cards and gallery created each fortnight for the Runway Inspired Challenges, they always challenge me LOL.  This time I thought I'd deconstruct the process for creating my Runway Inspired Challenge #57 Markus Lupfer card.  If you look closely at the dress, there are a number of pigeons on it, and "love" speech bubbles, so I thought this sentiment was most appropriate.  The sentiment was the first element I chose for the card, as I liked the similarities between the graphic style of the doodle font of the Autumn Leaves sentiment and the dress. The Alley Way Stamps Lighter Than Air birdies are a similar graphic style. I chose this weeks fabulous Seize the Sketch as the basis for my card, as it replicated the overlapping graphic shapes found on the RIC inspiration dress, my bottom panel became a die cut window, though which you can see the inside decorated panel.  The floral pattern and paperpieced colours are chosen straight from the dress, as well as the Simon Says Stamp speech bubble. Thought it appropriate to play along with Catered Crop Put a Bird on it Challenge too!

Hope you are having a super creative weekend!

You Light Up My Life...

I was lucky enough to have won a fabulous prize pack from the gorgeous Christine just before Christmas, and when my bag of goodies arrived, I inked up my Paper Smooches Smoocheroos stamps with Dark Grey Artemio ink from my prize pack, just in time to play along with Paper Smooches Sparks Picture Perfect Challenge, with a sketch based on this fortnights Seize the Sketch (the banner became my "light"), and Keep It Simple Text Challenge. I LOVE this colour combo, and that cake reminds me of the stacked lighthouse!

Spot Me a Hug...

Second post for the day...
Inspired by Lawnscaping Polka Dots Challenge, thought I'd challenge myself to create using only polka-dotted papers - a mix from Lawn Fawn Into the Woods and Echo Park Dots & Stripes, great for playing along with this weeks gorgeous Color Q palette, and I even added a giant polka-dot from this fortnights fabulous Seize the Sketch. Stamped Lawn Fawn Yeti Set Go yeti and pine trees, and So Much to Say sun and sentiment in Cup O'Joe (not quite Early Espresso, but close LOL!) and fussy cut.  Die-cut the sentiment banner with Lawn Fawn Home Sweet Home die, the hillside with Paper Smooches Borders 1 die, and negative die cut the super-sized polka dot with Lil Inkers Stitched Circle die. Playing along with Catered Crop Animal House Recipe Swap too.

Hope you are having a FABULOUS week!

Little Tangles Guest Designer Post - Giving Thanks...

E.T.A.

So excited to be able to present this card to you as Guest Designer over at Little Tangles, the Neat & Tangled Challenge blog!  This fortnights Little Tangles challenge is Giving Thanks. Although we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in this part of the world, I do have a lot to give thanks for!

I thought I'd give you a few hints and tips to create a card similar to this, using Distress Inks, Glimmermist, Embossing powder, and of course, Neat & Tangled Stamps!
  • Cut your 6x4 inch card base to size and round the corners.
  • Stamp several Neat & Tangled Fresh Blooms flowers (12) and My Heart Sings bird (1) onto watercolour paper in Versamrk Embossing ink (or similar).  Try stamping two rows of six flowers, with the bird stamped underneath the flowers on the right-hand end.
  • Sprinkle with clear embossing powder before blasting with your heat gun.
  • Using Distressed Inks, vertically swipe the ink pad over the clear embossed images. Swipe the colours so each is just overlapping the next colour. Try using Wild Honey on the left (4 flowers), Spiced Marmalade in the centre (4 flowers & bird) and Picked Raspberry on the right(4 flowers & bird).
  • Overspray with Glimmermist, or water & perfect pearls, then dry thoroughly with your heat gun. Try using Glimmermist Twinkle Yellow, or Gold, or just plain water!
  • Fussy cut the Neat & Tangled flowers and bird. Try using a really small pair of sharp scissors, to help get around all the curly edges more easily.
  • Adhere the layered flowers in position on the card with double-sided tape.
  • Cut a strip of cardstock 6.5 inch x 1.5 inch, round the corners and die-cut "thanks" letters. Try aligning and taping the letter dies with masking tape to them hold in place before die-cutting.
  • Don't be afraid to cut your stamps to customise your sentiments. This sentiment was created using Just Hello "a note of thanks" and "o" from "hello: and Fresh Blooms "f" from "beautiful". Before you ink your sentiment, place the sentiment stamps in position on your cardstock, then press down your stamp press or stamping block to pick up the stamps from the cardstock - this will vertically align your sentiment with your negative die-cut letters. Alternatively use a ruler to measure the spaces before placing your stamps on the block. If you have a stamping block with grid-lines, you can use the lines to help align your sentiment horizontally.
  • Stamp the sentiment using a coloured ink such as Hero Arts Soft Cantaloupe.
  • Pop dot the sentiment banner across the card.
  • Pop-dot the top section and double-sided tape the bottom section of the bird and attach to the card.
I hope you are inspired to give it a go with your inks and sprays,
 and Neat & Tangled stamps!

Also playing along with Seize the Sketch, with this fabulous sketch by Stacey.

Seize a Dashing Smooch...

9 Minutes and 42 seconds later...
It's that time again!!  Paper Smooches are currently calling for the Paper Smooches Sparks Design Team - are you going to give it a go!!!

Today I thought I'd play along with the current Paper Smooches Sparks Design Trend Watch (Stripes) Challenge, loving the tone-on-tone stripes & flowers, together with this fabulous Sieze the Sketch and 10 Minute Craft Dash Buttons.

Started by die cutting the gorgeous Paper Smooches Christmas Words and Poinsettia, with striped papers from MME and American Crafts, and the poinsettia leaves from Basic Grey paper. Rounded the corners on the card base, cut the striped strip to size and adhered to the card. Cut the sentiment strip to size and stamped "Merry" from Paper Smooches Christmas Sampler. Adhered the poinsettia die cuts and pop-dotted the sentiment strip.  Finished by adding buttons from my overflowing stash LOL!

Breast Cancer Awareness - Think Pink...

I loved the colours and textures in Laurel's Inspired By - but as I've been away, I only just got a chance to play!  I created this for Link Up for Pink in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month too - I think this sentiment from Verve "She stood in the storm and when the wind did not blow her away she adjusted her sails" is just perfect.  Converting left-over paper scraps into butterflies and fishtail flags always come in handy and are just right for this fortnights Use it Tuesday Scraps Challenge.  Sketch is from this fabulously versatile Seize the Sketch!

Seize the FUSION...

Rummaging through my stash I re-discovered these funky retro Bo Bunny Alora Collection papers.  How perfect are they for this fortnights FUSION colour combo! And I love that the swirls remind me of steaming hot coffee!

Took the colours and theme from this fortnights fabulous FUSION graphic, combined with the current Seize the Sketch to create this friendship card.  The up-cycled strip of corrugated packaging reminds me of takeaway coffee cups. Papers are a combination of Bo Bunny Alora Collection, Kaisercraft and Basic Grey, with the coffee girl and sentiment from My Favourite Things, and the coffee cup splatter from Skipping Stones stamped using Hero Arts Cup O' Joe (of course!!!)

Remember you have another week to play along with FUSION -
hope you can drop by for a cuppa and join in the fun!

Joining in the fun at Little Red Wagon Back in Time Challenge too.
