A Little FUSION Christmas...

Heard someone mention they couldn't believe how one year can manage to stretch out endlessly and fly by in a blink at the same time. Definitely feeling it with the festive season almost on us this year!

Perfect timing for Christmas card inspiration with a fabulous neutral colour palette plus a pop of red in this fortnights FUSION. Inspired by the knotted textures, gorgeous bow and seasonal theme, together with another super cute and versatile sketch this fortnight. Playing with my Tara Wakefield stamps and Studio Calico papers, paired with My Favorite Things Christmas sentiment.

Full of Love for FUSION...

OK I have to admit, I do {heart} how this card turned out! I seem to be on a roll with my red and woodgrain cards LOL!

Inspired by these fabulous FUSION paper hearts and super cool FUSION sketch, the sentiment is stamped using Dina Wakley's Scribbly Alphabet, combined with Amy Tangerine's Today Thickers foam hearts, filled in with MME red polka dotted paper, and backed with MME woodgrained paper on a red cardstock base, with the front of the card offset about one inch compared to the back.

As usual, you can play along with FUSION using either this gorgeous FUSION photo inspiration, or this fabulously versatile sketch, or a combination of both. Hop on over to the FUSION site for some more super gorgeous inspiration from the fabulous FUSION DT...

FUSION - To the STARS and back...

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful relaxing and refreshing Easter, ready for another fabulous FUSION challenge.

I thought I'd steer away from the floral theme and focus on the silver and blues from the inspiration photo, and rotated the sketch 90 degrees to create this "to the stars and back" card. These too cute bears are from Mama Elephant Bear Hugs, stamped in Momento Ink Rich Cocoa on Gelatoed watercolour paper then fussy cut. The starry sky was created using a dark blue pearl cardstock, inked along the top edge with Distress Inks Black Soot then stamped with Winnie & Walter Scenery - Big Bang Confetti in Momento Ink Wedding Dress and heat embossed with Superfine Silver, as was the Mama Elephant Shooting Star sentiment and Studio Calico wood veneer star.

PS Happy 4th Anniversay - Hogs & Kisses...

I thought I'd try and kick myself out of my mojo lull by joining in the fun with Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes, this very cool Freshly Made Sketches and Addicted to CAS Hugs and Kisses. Don't forget the Paper Smooches Designer Challenge is on at the moment too!

Created the large heart by using the small Paper Smooches Hearts die cut, enlarging on the photocopier by 400% and using this as my template to fussy cut the large heart. Cute little hog is from Paper Smooches Green Acres, and the sentiment is from Paper Smooches We Connect. Papers are from Kaisercraft, including the gorgeous red embossed paper for the hearts, the little hog is stamped onto Gelatos on watercolour paper then fussy cut, with die cut alphas from MFT.

Mixed Media Card Challenge - Home (Lace Optional)

I love this sentiment stamp from MFT, and knew I wanted to use it as soon as I saw this months theme for the Mixed Media Card Challenge was "Home". The shaker box card was created using white cardstock oversprayed with Heidi Swapp Gold, filled with a combination of Ruby Rock-It Snow White coarse glitter and red hearts inside the shaker. I love that when you stand the card upright, all the little hearst and snow disappears behind the Memory Box Countryside die cut, so all the hearts do come "home" for Christmas! The MFT sentiment is stamped in gold and embossed in gold, and I love the little detail the Lil Inkers Stitched Circle die-cuts add.

Hope you get to play along, I can't wait to see what you create!

Stepping it Up... CAS to Mixed Media Card

Doing some last minute homework for the Online Holiday Card Class, inspired by Debby Hughes' stunning "easy to reproduce" gift tag card, I thought I'd show you how easy it is to step up from CAS to Mixed Media Cards - also to encourage you to play along with the current Mixed Media Card Challenge Christmas (with Bells optional), and still be a quick and easy card to reproduce!

My first CAS card was kept very simple, stamping Uniko Studio Pure Florala Ponsettia and Peace Love Joy sentiment on a Lawn Fawn tag in Hero Arts Gold ink and Rangers Pearl Gold embossing. The added splatter is created by flicking Heidi Swapp Gold Lame, rather than spraying, so there is still a lot of white space, essential for a CAS card.

Stepping it up, to create a Mixed Media Card, I sprayed the Heidi Swapp Gold Lame, added some MME gold striped patterned paper, Jingle and Joy gold twine bow and stamped this gorgeous STAMPlorations Jingle Bells image, with more solid lines, also using Hero Arts Gold ink and Rangers Pearl Gold embossing on the die cut Lawn Fawn tag. I diecut a second tag from a foam sheet, and used this behind the stamped tag for added dimension.

PS. Tag You're Christmas!

I've been meaning to play along with the fab Tag You're It Challenge for ages, and decided to combine this last minute entry with my Online Holiday Card Class Day 1 Homework (inspired by Debby's gorgeous tag card), Less Is More Colour Challenge - Non-Traditional Christmas, Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes, and Addicted to CAS Tags. Created using Paper Smooches Christmas Word dies, Lawn Fawn Tag You're It (although I probably would do the next one in Paper Smooches Stitched Tag) and Lil Inkers Stitched Snowflake. Version two added a border in the same cardstock colour as the sentiment and snowflake.

HINTS for Mass Production:
  • Die cut the tags first, then the "Christmas and "Merry" from the striped tag, then the negative space can be used to line up the coloured letters.
  • Using striped paper makes it easy to align the word dies.
  • If you die cut the white base of the tag from thicker cardstock (or even chipboard), you don't need to worry about pop-dotting the tag.
